Fortnite’s In-Game Currency Value Drops 20% to Help Epic Games ‘Pay the Bills’

From PC Mag: Epic Games says the cost of running Fortnite has increased enough to trigger price changes for its in-game currency. The most basic V-Bucks package will soon get you 20% less in-game currency than previously.

Fortnite’s price is normally $8.99 for 1,000 V-Bucks, but that’s moving to 800 V-Bucks at the same price from March 19. The brand is giving players over a week to get used to the new system, and Epic Games says it's making the change to "help pay the bills."

The deal is less of a problem when buying larger amounts of currency; $22.99 will soon get you 2,400 V-Bucks, down from the current 2,800, a drop of around 14%. If you opt to pay $36.99, you’ll soon get 10% less for your money at 4,500 V-Bucks rather than 5,000.

The best deal is the brand’s top-end, expensive package, which costs $89.99. It's a 7% difference, getting you 12,500 V-Bucks compared with the previous amount of 13,500. Epic Games is continuing its offer for 20% of your purchase back in Epic Rewards, letting you spend it in Fortnite or other games like Fall Guys or Rocket League.
