From DailyTech: Both of the recently released next generation game consoles, the Xbox One and the PS4, have suffered hardware issues. Some Xbox One consoles have damaged game discs inserted into the drive slot, while the PS4 console has suffered from what is being called the Blue Light of Death.
Microsoft is trying to make it up to gamers who purchased Xbox One consoles that had hardware issues by giving them a free download code for a game. Anyone who purchased a faulty Xbox One console will be able to get a free game from four choices according to Polygon.
The four choices include Dead Rising 3, Forza Motorsport 5, Ryse: Son of Rome or Zoo Tycoon. The games are being offered as a free download, so even machines suffering from a defective optical drive will be able to play the games.
"While a replacement console is on its way, we want to ensure our advance exchange customers can stay in the game," a statement from Microsoft said. "We will provide each of them with a free digital download of one of the launch titles published by Microsoft Studios."
Microsoft continues to maintain that there were issues with a very small number of consoles so far. Microsoft has also promised to "take care" of customers that purchase faulty consoles.
