EA’s New Subscription Service Gives Xbox One Users Unlimited Gaming Access for $30/Year

From DailyTech: It looks as though Electronic Arts is looking to shake the gaming industry up a bit with the introduction of EA Access. The new service, which will be $4.99/month or $29.99/year, will allow Xbox One gamers unlimited access to some of EA’s top-rated games.

Some of the games that will be available to play include FIFA 14, Madden NFL 25, Peggle 2, and Battlefield 4 (with more titles to be announced at a later date). In addition, EA Access will give subscribers early access to upcoming games courtesy of “Play First.” Subscribers will be able to play games like Madden NFL 15 and Dragon Age: Inquisition -- unfortunately, just the trial versions -- up to five days before they’re available to the general public.

“This is something we’ve never done before,” said EA in its press release. “We’re excited to share it with you.”

EA Access was made possible via a partnership with Microsoft, and it’s unknown if similar functionality will be extended to PlayStation 4 users in the future.

Microsoft’s Xbox One has gained significant traction following its effective price cut to $399 (due to making a SKU available sans Kinect camera) and EA Access could persuade even more gamers to join “Team Microsoft.”
