Xbox 360 Gets First System Update Since March 2016

From PC Mag: The Xbox 360 is fast approaching its 13th birthday and Microsoft stopped manufacturing the console back in April 2016. The last system update the 360 received was in March 2016, right before the hardware got discontinued. I say was because Microsoft just surprised everyone with a new update for its last-gen hardware.

As Polygon reports, if you still own an Xbox 360, it might be worth booting it up and reconnecting to the internet as there's a system update waiting for you. Details as to what it contains are non-existent beyond the official description from Microsoft, which simply states, "Minor bug fixes and improvements." The system update from March 2016 had the exact same description.

Will it be the last system update for the console? Most likely, although Microsoft clearly still has people working on Xbox 360 system software. That's probably a side effect of the backwards compatibility Microsoft implemented through software for the Xbox One. Ensuring some old 360 games work on the Xbox One potentially revealed some new bugs Microsoft decided it was worth fixing for the original hardware.
