From X-bit Labs: Instead of launching PlayStation phone by Sony Ericsson to tackle expansion of Apple iPhone and eventually Windows Phone 7-series onto the market of handheld gaming, Sony plans to add PlayStation Network (PSN) service to Sony Ericsson mobile phones as well as to other devices the company makes. “Leveraging PSN, we are building a new network service that will connect many more network-enabled products, including Sony Bravias, Vaios, and Blu-ray players. To satisfy the demand for more open systems, and to broaden the array of networked devices connected to our network services, we are committed to extending that service to Sony Ericsson mobile phones,” said Howard Stringer, chief executive officer of Sony Corp., at the Mobile Phone World Congress, reports Gamasutra web-site. Sony also plan to unify to a certain extent graphics user interfaces across Sony and Sony Ericsson product ranges in order to simplify their usage and encourage loyal clients to stay with the Sony brand. “As part of these initiatives, we are also exploring consistent user interfaces across Sony and Sony Ericsson products to ensure a seamless and integrated experience for the consumer,” Mr. Stringer is reported to have said.
