Cumulative Sales Announced for PS3, PlayStation Move, Nintendo 3DS

From DailyTech: The PlayStation 3 is Sony's third home video game console in the PlayStation series. It was first released in 2006, and features DualShock 3 controllers, a slim model, connectivity with PlayStation Portable, use of the Blu-ray Disc for storage and access to the online gaming service, the PlayStation Network. It also has more than 2,000 software titles including "Killzone 3" and "LittleBigPlanet 2."

As of March 29, a total of 50 million PlayStation 3 units had been sold worldwide.

The PlayStation Move is a motion-sensing game controller platform for the PlayStation 3 that allows users to play PS3 games using a handheld motion controller wand. It was first launched in 2010.

As of April 3, over 8 million PlayStation Move units were sold worldwide.

Sony isn't the only video game console developer experiencing success, though. Nintendo also recently announced that it sold 400,000 3DS systems during its first week of availability. The system was first launched in late March of this year.

"We are very satisfied with this start and we look forward to the momentum that we will build on Nintendo 3DS with the launch of the E-shop, the launch of the 3-D trailers for Hollywood movies and the launch of "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" in mid June, as well as the launch of Netflix later on in the summer," said Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America president.
