Toshiba Thrive Tablet Available for Pre-Order June 13

From DailyTech: Reuters reports that Toshiba is throwing its hat into the new tablet wars, with the upcoming Toshiba Thrive.

The Android 3.1-based 10.1-inch (1280 x 800) tablet will come in 8GB ($429), 16GB ($479), and 32GB ($579) sizes. Powered by NVIDIA's Tegra 2 and sporting the typical WiFi, Bluetooth, and USB, the Thrive also supports an SD card and features two cameras: a 2-megapixel front-facing one and a 5-megapixel rear.

According to Engadget, the Thrive rocks a haptic display with a button to lock the screen orientation. Toshiba also includes its Resolution+ software, used for cleaning and upscaling video playback.

The Thrive is also one of few tablets that sports a removable (and swappable) battery. It is said to last for up to seven hours of continuous HD video playback on a single charge, and will recharge up to 90 percent in an hour and a half, Engadget reports.

The one downside is its weight. "At 1.6 pounds, it's about as heavy as the first-gen iPad, which, like, scads of other tablets, has since gone on a diet," Engadget writes.
