Canon Announces Three New Point and Shoot Cameras

From DailyTech: Canon has rolled out three new digital cameras today that include the PowerShot SX150 IS, the PowerShot ELPH 510HS, and the PowerShot ELPH 310 HS.

The cameras all features Smart AUTO with 32 different scene modes for the best image quality no matter the setting. They also have 28mm wide-angle lenses, integrated image stabilization, and are able to record HD video. They do vary a bit in some features though. The SX150 IS has a 12x optical zoom lens and a 14.1-megapixel resolution. It also uses the DIGIC 4 Image Processor, records 720p video, and has manual shooting modes as well.

The user can control settings like aperture priority and shutter priority. Canon also gave the camera discrete shooting mode, which presumably makes the camera quiet for times when you are shooting in places where noise isn't welcome. The LCD is a 3-inch unit and the little beast will ship in September for $349.99.

The ELPH 510 HS has the distinction of being the thinnest 12x optical zoom camera with a 28mm lens. The cam records 1080p HD video and has a 12.1-megapixel CMOS sensor. The camera also has a high-speed burst mode, Intelligent IS to keep the shakes out of images, and Smart AUTO mode. The rear LCD is a 3.2-inch touch panel and the camera has touch shutter as well. The camera will launch at the beginning of October for $259.99.

The last of the cameras is the ELPH 310 HS. It has a 12.1-megapixel image sensor with an 8x optical zoom and it can record 1080p HD video. The 310 HS has a 3-inch rear LCD and comes in five different colors. It will ship in early October with a price of $259.99. The last time Canon added new cameras to its line was back in February.
