Samsung Series 7 Slate PC Breaks Cover

From DailyTech: Samsung is on hand at IFA 2011 in Germany this week and the latest product the company has unveiled is a new Series 7 Slate with full PC functionality.

The Series 7 Slate has all the features of a laptop in a portable form factor that mobile users will appreciate. The Slate weighs less than two pounds and measures only half an inch thick. The screen size is 11.6-inches and the machine runs an Intel Core i5 processor and can be had with Windows 7 Home Premium or Windows 7 Professional. Storage is up to 128GB SSD.

“The Samsung Series 7 Slate PC was designed for on-the-go users who need a slim, lightweight computer but can’t afford to sacrifice true PC functionality,” said Scott Ledterman, director of mobile PC marketing at Samsung Enterprise Business Division. “Whether you’re using it for work or play, the Series 7 Slate revolutionizes portable computing by providing the latest and greatest PC features without weighing you down.”

The Slate has an on screen keyboard for typing and the user can navigate using multi-touch gestures. The machine also has an electromagnetic pen that allows writing directly on the screen. A microphone is integrated and the front camera is a 2MP unit with the rear getting a 3MP camera. Connectivity features include a full size USB port, Wi-Fi, WiMAX and HSPA connections.

The little 11.6-inch screen has 400nit brightness and can display 16 million colors with 170-degree viewing angles. The Slate can be ordered with an optional Bluetooth keyboard docking station and a mouse to make it even more like a desktop computer.
