Lenovo Unveils New S Series Laptops, Android Tablets at IFA 2012

From DailyTech: Lenovo is on hand at IFA 2012 in Berlin, Germany and has unveiled several new laptops and new tablets. The new laptops fall into the thin and light S Series range and include the IdeaPad S300, S400, and S405 laptops. Lenovo says that these thin and light laptops are designed to be affordable and to strike a balance between portability and performance.

The S Series machines are only 21.9 mm thick and weigh less than 4 pounds. The machines have numerous options, including third-generation Core processors from Intel and available AMD A-Series processors. The machine can also be fitted with up to 500 GB of hard drive storage with the S405 available with up to 1 TB of storage. The S400 and the S405 can fitted with an optional 32 GB SSD.

The machines have up to 14-inch HD resolution displays, HDMI outputs, Dolby Audio, and more. All of the laptops in the S Series ship with Windows 7 Home Professional and are eligible for the Windows 8 upgrade program. All three machines in the series are available today starting at $499.

Lenovo has also unveiled three new tablets in the Ideatab line including the S2110, A2107, and A2109. These machines all run Android 4.0. The S2110 is an entertainment tablet with an optional detachable keyboard dock providing a more computer-like experience. It measures 8.69 mm thick and weighs 580 g. It has a 10-inch display and sports 10-point multi-touch. It also features a micro-HDMI port and one attached to the keyboard dock the machine has a battery life of up to 20 hours.

Other features include a five-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and LED flash. The machine has a 1.3 megapixel front camera for video conferencing, 1 GB of RAM, integrated Wi-Fi, and a textured back for additional grip.

The A2107 and A2109 tablets are affordable offerings aimed at essential entertainment, social networking, and productivity. The A2107 has a seven-inch screen to support reading, web surfing, and e-mail. It has a pair of integrated speakers, a microSD card slot, Bluetooth 4.0, integrated FM radio, 720p HD resolution, and the battery promises 10 hours of use per charge. Wi-Fi and 3G versions are available.

The A2109 is a nine-inch tablet with four point capacitive technology with a resolution of 1280 x 800. The tablet uses an NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor and has a micro-HDMI output. The tablet has dual internal speakers and weighs 570 g. The tablet has 1.3 megapixel front camera and three-megapixel rear camera. It also features dual microphones, integrated GPS, a micro USB port, and up to 16 GB of storage.
