Samsung Plans to Launch LTE-Advanced Variant of Galaxy S4

From DailyTech: Samsung came charging out of the date with its Galaxy S4 smartphone, and racked up some impressive early sales figures. However, analysts are already indicating that the luster is already starting to fade from Samsung’s current flagship and slashed sales forecasts by 30 percent.

However, this news isn’t going to stop Samsung from introducing yet another variant of its Galaxy S4. This time around, the company is set to launch a version with LTE-Advanced technology using chips from Qualcomm. This upgrade will allow transfer speeds that are twice that of standard LTE.

The tip about the LTE-Advanced version of the Galaxy S4 came from Samsung's J.K. Shin, who said that the phone would be sold in South Korea as early as this month. Samsung also noted that it was in talks with carriers overseas to carry the phone.

Shin is apparently talking about carriers in the U.S., but declined to say specifically which carriers Samsung was talking with. "We'll be the first with the commercial launch of the advanced 4G version of the smartphone," Shin added.

While analytics firms downgraded Samsung pointing to overly optimistic sales predictions, Shin shows no concern for sales of the current Galaxy S4 smartphone.

"S4 sales remain strong. It's selling far stronger than the (Galaxy) S III, said Shin. “The new LTE-Advanced (4G) phone will be another addition to our high-end segment offerings that ensure healthy profit margins.”
