Microsoft to End Windows 10 Mobile OS Support in December

From PC Mag: If you're still using a Windows 10 phone, Microsoft is advising you prepare to jump ship.

The company is ending support for the Windows 10 Mobile OS later this year on Dec. 10. The date was revealed in a support document from Microsoft that was updated this week.

Once the support ends, Windows 10 phones will no longer receive security patches, hotfixes or free online technical help from Microsoft. Device owners will be left on their own and have to rely on third-party companies for software assistance.

However, Microsoft has a tip for people still on the operating system: Go buy an iPhone or Android handset.

"With the Windows 10 Mobile OS end of support, we recommend that customers move to a supported Android or iOS device," the company says in a FAQ about the upcoming change.
