Mario Kart Tour Closed Beta Begins May 22

From PC Mag: Nintendo is set to return to mobile devices this summer with the launch of free-to-start title Mario Kart Tour. Although we still don't have a release date beyond "Summer 2019," some of you will be playing it on May 22. That is, if you sign up!

As Siliconera reports, Nintendo announced that a closed beta for Mario Kart Tour will be running from May 22 through to June 4. That means Nintendo is currently looking for beta testers and you can sign up to be one if you live in the US or Japan.

The sign-up page remains active until May 7 at which point Nintendo will decide who has been successful. After that, access to the game will be granted as long as you own an Android device capable of playing it. For now, all Nintendo will say is some Android devices are excluded, but not which ones.

Mario Kart Tour is Nintendo's most highly-anticipated mobile game so far, following the launch of Super Mario Run, Fire Emblem Heroes, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, and most recently Dragalia Lost. It will follow the same free-to-start formula by being free to download and play, but supported by microtransactions that will inevitably generate millions of dollars for the company.
