From PC Mag: If you own a 2018 MacBook Air, there's a chance the main logic board needs replacing. Thankfully, it's not a fire risk like the 2015 MacBook Pro, and Apple will carry out the repair for free.
As 9To5Mac reports, the specific model of the MacBook Air affected is the Retina 13-inch and Apple knows specifically which serial numbers need repairing. Emails will be sent out informing all 2018 MacBook Air owners who have the faulty logic board that a repair is required and what to do next.
Apple Stores and authorized third-party repair outlets can perform the repair, but it's not known how long it will take to swap out the logic board. As to why the board needs replacing, Apple hasn't explained beyond pointing to a power issue in an internal memo to repair staff.
