New Nvidia Shield TV Appears at the FCC

From PC Mag: If you want a high-performance media streaming device that's also capable of playing games, then you can't beat the Nvidia Shield TV. The latest model was released back in 2017, so it's ripe for an update, and the FCC website has confirmed it's getting one.

As The Verge reports, a new listing has appeared on the FCC website for a "Shield Android TV Game Console" along with the ID P3430. The processor inside is a Tegra X1 T210 B01, which is thought to be the same chip being shipped in the updated Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite devices.

Other than the new processor, very little is known about this new Shield TV model. By using an updated chip, Nvidia has the potential to ship a smaller Shield TV and one that requires less power to produce 4K visuals and play games. Alternatively, it could choose to run the chip faster and offer an even better gaming set-top box.
