GoPro Unveils $399 Hero8 Black, New 360-Degree Max Camera

From PC Mag: GoPro's next-generation action cameras are landing this month with the Hero8 Black and a new 360-degree camera dubbed the GoPro Max.

The Hero8 Black will retail for $399 and now includes built-in mounting clips on the bottom. No need to buy a separate mounting frame for the device; simply flip the two clips open, and you can attach the camera to a selfie stick or tripod.

According to GoPro, the new model is 14 percent lighter than last year's Hero7 Black. To protect it from falls, the camera's lens has been upgraded to be two times more impact resistant. You can also buy a $20 screen protector kit from GoPro for added durability.

Another big change with the Hero8 Black is the support for GoPro-created "Mods," which you'll be able to attach to the camera. They include an $80 microphone add-on for better audio capture, a separate $80 mod to attach a second display to the camera, and a $50 mod for on-camera lighting—all accessories that'll appeal to the vlogging and professional film making crowd. You can also combine them together to turn the Hero8 Black into what GoPro calls a "vlogging powerhouse."
