Report: OnePlus 8 Series Launching in April

From PC Mag: The OnePlus 8 range of smartphones is reportedly coming in the second week of April, the latest in the company’s series of powerful mid-range Android devices.

According to Techradar, which apparently spoke to a “source close to the company,” the new flagships are likely to launch both globally and in India on the same day, as the OnePlus 7T Pro did.

No commentary was given on the products that would be launched, but it’s expected that OnePlus will be moving from launching two products (the standard smartphone and a ‘Pro’ version) to three products, adding a ‘Lite’ version into the mix in the same way other manufacturers have done.

Of the three phones, the OnePlus 8 Pro will be the most powerful. OnePlus’ CEO Pete Lau has said that it will feature a 120Hz refresh rate, 1,000 nits brightness, support for the 10-bit color range needed for HDR content, and has a touch sampling rate of 240Hz - apparently "the best smartphone display in 2020."

Leaks have also suggested the OnePlus 8 Pro will feature a 6.6-inch display, run on the Snapdragon 865 chipset, and be capable of 5G connectivity. Unfortunately, that also means it’s coming with Verizon bloatware too. It’s likely the OnePlus 8 will also have these specifications, although the OnePlus 8 Pro is rumored to have a 2K display, where as the regular OnePlus 8 will be Full HD+. The only other difference may be the cameras, with the OnePlus 8 expected to have a triple-camera setup and the Pro a quad-camera array.
