Report: 2nd Gen Chromecast Ultra Runs Android TV, Includes Remote

From PC Mag: It's thought Google is preparing to launch a second-generation Chromecast Ultra, and if the leaked details are true, it's going to ship with a voice-enabled remote.

As 9To5Google reports, the hardware refresh uses the codename "sabrina" and will eventually appear on the market as a refreshed Chromecast Ultra. There's two big differences over the existing Ultra dongle, though. The first is the expected inclusion of a physical remote, and the second is it runs Android TV.

The new Ultra will look similar to the third-generation Chromecast, plugs in to a HDMI port, and requires a second cable for power. The accompanying remote includes a Google Assistant button and a microphone for voice input. As you'd expect, the new Ultra will allow for up to 4K HDR content playback.

Google developed Android TV with digital media players and set-top boxes in mind, so using it for a new Chromecast device makes sense. It allows access to all of the most popular streaming services, such as Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Disney+, and of course YouTube TV, while also supporting live TV, apps, and games through the Google Play Store.
