From PC Mag: Amazon's Prime Day event is a big distraction at the moment, but it hasn't stopped Facebook from releasing the second generation of its Oculus Quest virtual reality headset.
The Oculus Quest 2 went up for pre-order last month during Facebook Connect 7, and those pre-orders have now started shipping. The headset is also available more generally for $299 either direct from Oculus or via Amazon. According to Amazon, ordering now will see the Quest 2 delivered on Oct. 23, although faster deliveries options allow you to get it by Oct. 16 if you're quick.
The $299 price point is $100 cheaper than the first Quest headset, however, that only bags you the 64GB version. Spending $399 pushes the storage up to 256GB. There's also the $79 link cable to consider, which is required if you want to hook up the Quest 2 to a Windows PC, and a bundle including an elite strap with battery and carrying case is available for $129.
