Alexa Routines Can Now Be Launched Using Multiple Phrases

From PC Mag: Amazon is making it easier to trigger Alexa routines by increasing the number of phrases you can associate with each one.

As AFTVnews reports, until now each routine has been limited to a single custom phrase. For example, saying "good morning" could trigger a smart light to come on, but no other similar phrase would trigger the same action. Now Amazon has made it possible to add up to seven phrases per routine.

The change will be especially welcome in households with multiple people who naturally vary the way they say good morning or good night, for example. Alexa will now accept those variations if created, minimizing any confusion and frustration from having to remember very specific phrases to trigger actions. If you live alone, it's your chance to have some fun with varying how to make Alexa do specific actions.

Amazon recently added two new celebrity voices to Alexa in the form of Melissa McCarthy and Shaquille O'Neal. And don't forget Alexa isn't just an app on your phone or smart speaker in your home; you can give your car a 21st century upgrade using the $50 Echo Auto device. If multiple people drive your car, then the multiple phrase update could be very useful in your vehicle, too.
