Xbox Cloud Gaming Gets a 'Clarity Boost' in the Edge Browser

From PC Mag: Microsoft is giving gamers a new reason to try using the Edge browser, and it's quite a compelling one.

Milena Gonzalez, Program Manager at Xbox, revealed a new partnership with the Microsoft Edge team has allowed Xbox Cloud Gaming to be improved specifically for Edge. It means anyone streaming Xbox games from the cloud using the Edge browser will experience "the optimal look and feel."

The new feature is called Clarity Boost, and it improves the visual quality of the game being streamed using client-side scaling. The image above was shared by Microsoft to demonstrate the difference Clarity Boost can make to the video output.

In order to try Clarity Boost, Xbox Cloud gamers will need to download Microsoft Edge Canary, then go to www.xbox.com/play, login, and start playing a game. Using the three-dot menu, select "Enable Clarity Boost" to switch the feature on. If Clarity Boost doesn't appear as an option, it probably means you aren't running the right version of the browser. To check, navigate to edge://settings/help and check the browser version is 96.0.1033.0 or later.
