From PC Mag: Gigabyte is set to launch a new line of BRIX Extreme mini PCs early next year which will use AMD's Ryzen 5000U processors.
The BRIX desktop PCs are Gigabyte's answer to Intel's popular NUC range, which are small enough to be attached to the back of a monitor using a VESA mount. As TechPowerUp reports, for the BRIX Extreme, Gigabyte selected to introduce three models in varying configurations, using the Ryzen 3 5300U, Ryzen 5 5500U, and Ryzen 7 5700U. All three are 15-watt Zen 2 processors with Radeon Graphics.
Gigabyte has updated its website to reveal there will be eight models in total of the BRIX Extreme. Although only three Ryzen 5000U processors are being used, Gigabyte is offering both a low-profile and larger chassis to allow for the use of a 2.5-inch drive. Expansion modules will also be available allowing the addition of a pair of M.2 NVMe slots, or an extra M.2 slot and an extra Ethernet port, RS-232 and RJ45 port.
In all cases, the Extreme models include a single M.2 NVMe slot, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.2 support. For ports, they include 2.5Gbps Ethernet, two HDMI 2.0a, mini DP (1.4), USB-C with DP Alt mode (1.4), and up to seven USB 3.2 ports. Gigabyte says it's possible to connect up to four displays all running at 4K resolution, and you can hide the BRIX Extreme on the back of a display using the included VESA bracket.
