From PC Mag: Xbox owners are set to get a new gaming subscription option soon courtesy of Ubisoft.
Ubisoft has confirmed that it intends to bring the Ubisoft+ service to Xbox, but isn't revealing exactly when that will happen just yet. The publisher/developer also confirmed that Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass subscribers will be able to play Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction from launch on Jan. 20.
Ubisoft+ first appeared back in 2020 when Uplay Plus was renamed Ubisoft Plus, which subsequently became Ubisoft+ and cloud streaming was added. The service offers access to all of Ubisoft's new game releases, as well as all DLC and season pass content from premium editions and monthly rewards (customizations, items, boosters, etc.). There's always over 100 games to play, just like Xbox Game Pass offers.
On PC, Ubisoft+ costs $14.99/month, but for $17.99/month it's possible to stream games using Google Stadia or Amazon Luna. Now Xbox consoles are set to get the same access, but it's currently unclear if it will simply be streamed games or downloads, too. There's also the question of how much Ubisoft intends to charge Xbox owners. For reference, EA Play is currently offered at no extra cost to Xbox Game Pass subscribers. It seems likely Ubisoft will just add Xbox as an option to its existing $17.99/month subscription.
