From PC Mag: Nvidia is delaying the launch of both the GeForce GTX 1630 and its forthcoming range of RTX 40 series graphics cards, according to the latest reports.
As Videocardz reports(Opens in a new window), the GTX 1630 was expected to launch on June 15, but Nvidia has now changed that from a specific date to simply "to be determined." As to why this decision was taken, supply chain problems have struck again and Nvidia is apparently finding it had to source enough components. That's certainly unexpected when you consider last month the company said its GPU inventories were nearly back to normal.
It should therefore come as no surprise that the GeForce RTX 40 series of cards is also going to be pushed back. The three 40 series cards we are expecting: the RTX 4090, RTX 4080, and RTX 4070, have all had their launch delayed by a month. The RTX 4090 will now launch in September, the RTX 4080 in October, and the RTX 4070 in November.
Whether Nvidia manages to his those new dates for its 40 series cards remains tentative. To effectively cancel the launch of the GTX 1630 a few days before launch shows how volatile the situation is for graphics cards components right now. If the 40 series cards end up appearing in early 2023 instead, I doubt many would be surprised. Even if they do launch this year, scalpers will inevitably grab as much stock as they can and prices will surge out of the range of most consumers.
