From PC Mag: Sony is preparing to launch a new PS5 controller with a focus on customization. It's called the DualSense Edge, and will no doubt draw comparisons with Microsoft's Xbox Elite controllers.
The DualSense Edge wireless controller will offer customization options both to the hardware directly and through software. On the hardware side, you'll be able to swap out the stick caps for a choice between standard, high dome, and low dome caps. The back buttons are also swappable, with half-dome and lever options, and the stick modules can be replaced if you find they are wearing out from heavy use. Sony will sell new stick modules separately rather than including spares in the box.
On the software side, buttons can be remapped or deactivated, stick sensitivity can be adjusted, and trigger travel can also be tweaked. Sony wants gamers to be able to adjust between travel distance and dead zones for different types of game, and the DualSense Edge will also allow you to save multiple profiles so you can swap between them when switching games.
Setup adjustments can be made on the controller using a dedicated Fn button, which allows for profile switching, game/chat volume adjustment, and brings up the controller profile settings for further tweaking.
