From PC Mag: On the heels of its Quest Pro VR headset release, Meta is already prepping for another consumer-grade device for next year.
During this week's third-quarter earnings call, the tech conglomerate (which rebranded last year to reflect its shift toward a digital metaverse) announced another $3 billion quarterly loss.
But some of that cost, according to CFO David Wehner, can be attributed to continued investment in new hardware—including "the next generation of the consumer Quest headset," he said, as reported by Engadget, set for launch "later next year."
The news comes just weeks after Meta launched its $1,500 Quest Pro, which is aimed at enterprise users looking to integrate AR and VR into their workflows. If Mark Zuckerberg wants more people to jump on the metaverse bandwagon, though, there needs to be more budget-friendly options—like the Quest 2, which sells for $399.99 (128GB) or $499.99 (256GB).
