From PC Mag: Google is discontinuing its standalone Street View app.
The app will be pulled from app stores in the next few weeks, while support will end on March 31, 2023, the company tells The Verge. Google did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
"Street View App is going away," reads a notice inside the Street View app that was first spotted by 9to5Google. The program itself, however, lives on. Folks who rely on 360-degree views are instead encouraged to switch to the Google Maps app or Street View Studio web platform.
While a majority of the standalone features already exist elsewhere, one aspect that will perish along with the app, according to 9to5Google, is its Photo Paths function, which lets virtually anyone with a smartphone submit 2D images of not-yet-documented roads or paths.
