From PC Mag: Twitter abruptly dissolved its Trust and Safety Council on Monday night, marking the latest in a series of tumultuous moves at the company since Elon Musk’s takeover in October.
Members of the council, which formed in 2016 and comprised various civil rights organizations, academics, and online safety advocates, received an email announcing the dissolution less than an hour before a scheduled Zoom meeting with company executives, The Washington Post reports.
The council’s page on Twitter’s website—which explained that the collection of experts advised the platform on issues including suicide prevention, child sexual exploitation, and dehumanization—has now been deleted.
According to an email shared anonymously with Reuters, Twitter informed the group that the Trust and Safety Council was no longer the “best structure” to bring “external insights into our product and policy development work.”
