From : Intel has made it official; it will unveil its upcoming Meteor Lake CPUs at its Innovation event in late September. This means the company has successfully made a node jump from Intel 7 to Intel 4, aka 10nm to 7nm. The company is also expected to launch its 14th generation Raptor Lake "refresh" CPUs for desktop and mobile at this event. Intel will focus on how its Meteor Lake chips can accelerate AI tasks thanks to new hardware added to its fledgling mobile architecture.
Intel has posted a listing of all the information sessions it will offer at the event, which runs Sept. 19-20. A listing titled "Intel Client Hardware Roadmap and the Rise of AI" sounds vaguely reminiscent of the third Terminator movie. The session will allow attendees to "learn about our latest client hardware platforms, including the highly anticipated Intel Core Ultra processors (codename Meteor Lake), what you can expect from our future roadmap, and Intel’s bold vision for AI."
The official launch of Meteor Lake will be a firehose of new information, as everything about these chips is like nothing we've seen from the company before. As its first tile-based CPUs manufactured on an all-new process, Intel has decided to reset its naming clock back to "1" and remove the letter "i" from the branding. This will give us CPUs such as the Intel Core Ultra 7 1003H, which will initially be confusing.
