State Laws on Social Media Moderation Are Too Vague, Supreme Court Says

From CNET: The US Supreme Court is pushing back to lower courts two key cases looking how social media companies moderate content on their platforms and how states respond to that.

The rulings return the cases to courts in Texas and Florida, where state laws from 2021 had sought to impose limitations on how social media platforms like Facebook, X and YouTube decide to remove or recommend content to users.

"Neither the Eleventh Circuit nor the Fifth Circuit conducted a proper analysis of the facial First Amendment challenges," Justice Elena Kagan wrote in the majority decision.

There were no dissenting opinions, only concurring in part with the Court's decision and concurring in part with the original judgments throughout the 96-page decision.

Neither law is in effect while they're under review.
