Chinese Hackers Had Trump, Harris, and Top Officials’ Telecom Data for '8 Months or More'

From ExtremeTech: A China-linked group known as "Salt Typhoon" has launched a cyberattack on US telecommunications companies, and it is harsher than previously thought. According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, the hackers had access to the communications data of thousands of Americans.

The hackers had access to US telecom infrastructure for at least eight months.

Some of the known targets include:

Donald J. Trump and his running mate, Senator JD Vance

Staff members of Kamala Harris's campaign

Personnel from Senator Schumer's office

Approximately 40 senior-ranking US officials

Their access extended to a much larger group of Americans.

Major carriers including AT&T, Verizon, and Lumen Technologies (formerly CenturyLink) were reportedly compromised. These companies have, as of now, declined to comment on the reports.
