From X-bit Labs: The Chinese government wants manufacturers of personal computers to tap the rural areas of the country amid global financial crisis by providing incentives to the largest PC vendors. But, apparently, not all the vendors can get those incentives. Four out of the top-five branded PC vendors – Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo and Acer – have been named as branded PC products qualified for subsidies under the China government's rural stimulus initiative, and thus are expected to enjoy increased sales in the China market in 2009, according to a news-story by DigiTimes web-site. However, Asustek Computer, did not gain the government's approval since, according to Asus itself, the company was selling its PC products under several trade names.
