AVerMedia Live Streamer Ultra HD GC571 Review (Page 4 of 4)

Page 4 - Conclusion

With their Live Streamer Ultra HD GC571, AVerMedia hopes to deliver a new budget capture card including more recent features without hurting your bottom line. In my opinion, the company has done a great job at striking a healthy balance between the two. Physically, this is a small card with an x1 PCI Express interface to fit in any motherboard slot. Its 4K pass-through and recording capability at 60fps and 30fps, respectively, makes the GC571 able to save your favorite gameplay or stream it for others to watch. In our testing, we did not observe any quality issues by doing either. The recorded clips, whether from my computer or from my console, were clean and without any artifacts you might see from lower quality capture cards. Better yet, I did not notice any lag on my playing experience, whether playing through the utility or via the pass-through output HDMI port. On the other hand, one area for improvement is RECentral. The software was generally laid out logically and easy to use. However, the multiple crashes and freezes I observed while initiating and ending recordings was quite frustrating. I know I could have avoided it by using other software, but I think AVerMedia should deliver a more polished end-to-end experience. Otherwise, I would have also liked to see a low-profile bracket included. At the time of the review, the AVerMedia Live Streamer Ultra HD GC571 is available for $180, which is generally reasonable for a 4K capable card. As such, if you are looking to replace your last generation capture cards or are getting started into streaming and recording, the Live Streamer Ultra HD GC571 is a fine budget choice.
