As one of Cooler Master's high-end air cooler products, the Hyper 612 Apex packs a punch with its air bending abilities. During my testing, it performed well in cooling my midrange AMD CPU for both the idle and load tests. To my surprise, the performance was on par with the dual tower be quiet! Pure Rock Pro 3 compared to the Hyper 612 Apex's singular one. When the fan speeds were low, the noise produced was nearly silent, while higher speeds produced a noticeable but reasonable amount of noise. For the contact plate, Cooler Master used a solid copper base plated with nickel plating to prevent corrosion. The installation process was very simple and straightforward. For AMD, the stock backplate is used like most other air coolers. Although I did not install the cooler onto an Intel CPU, the provided manual has a ten-step, easy-to-follow guide for that process. As for the appearance, the design for the cooler is sleek, as Cooler Master had intended it to be. The minimalist lid combined with the covers attached to the fans creates a very clean look. Its appearance with the cohesive design of all the components gave the Hyper 612 Apex a premium feel. In terms of improvements, the contact plate could be replaced with a vapor chamber design rather than a solid metal base to increase performance, but this is easier said than done due to costs. Some minor improvements would be to make aligning the cover lid onto the heatsink easier, include the option for ARGB fans, and allow easier replacement for fans in the event of failure. At press time, I was able to find a sale price of $65, which is very good considering its performance and design. If what you are looking for is a sleek and high-performing CPU air cooler at a competitive good price, the Cooler Master Hyper 612 Apex would be an important choice to consider.
