Page 4 - Conclusion
Overall, the Epomaker Carbon60 is a combination of good and bad aspects. The construction of the Epomaker Carbon60 is excellent. The carbon fiber outer housing is well-made and provides durability without heft. Day-to-day use of the Carbon60 is also great, with a solid typing feel. The customization options include plenty of RGB LED effects, while the south facing LEDs provide even illumination. The Carbon60 is feature packed. The battery life performed well, which is important for a portable keyboard. The Gateron Low Switch 2.0 switches are well-made, and the hot-swappable nature is a welcome addition. Although some may like the blue accent keys, Epomaker includes some spare keys to make the keyboard all black. The different modes of connectivity provide more flexibility for the keyboard, including both wired and wireless capabilities. There are still some drawbacks to the Epomaker Carbon60. There is no storage on the keyboard for the wireless dongle, and the software can be tricky to set up. Its slim form also means we do not have any height adjustment, inclined angle of the keyboard, or included wrist rest. Claimed VIA compatibility is great to see, but I was unable to take advantage of this open-source solution, and ran into problems getting the software to recognize the Carbon60 at all. Finally, the blue strap on the side might be useful for travel, but it mostly got in the way in my experience. The Carbon60 comes in at $130 USD, which is a fair price for a 60% RGB LED backlit mechanical keyboard. Overall, there is lots to like about the Epomaker Carbon60, especially if you are keen on a thin and minimalist keyboard.
