Turtle Beach Burst II Air Review (Page 4 of 4)

Page 4 - Conclusion

Although ROCCAT is a name fading in the annals of time with Turtle Beach absorbing the former’s product lines, the spirit of innovation lives on in the Burst II Air. The Burst II Air is the lightest full-size wireless mouse on the market to date at a mere 47g. Despite its feather-like weight, very few sacrifices were made. The body is solid, made with high-quality, silky-smooth plastic, and minimal flex. There are no perforations on top that would trap debris, dust, or hand grime, making it easy to clean. Its shape is symmetrical and is comfortable whether using palm, claw, or fingertip grip. The buttons are pre-tensioned, crisp, and tactile, while the scroll wheel has excellent tactile rolling resistance. Internally, it features 100M-click rated Titan optical switches, five onboard profiles, and an Owl-Eye 26K optical sensor, which is based on PixArt’s high-end PAW3395 sensor. Tracking is accurate, snappy, and consistent. Connectivity is great with the option to use lag-free 2.4GHz wireless, battery-saving Bluetooth 5.2, or even as a wired mouse. In light of reducing weight, there were a few sacrifices Turtle Beach had to make. First, its 40 hours of continuous use on 2.4GHz is less than most of the competition. Secondly, the bottom has two cutouts that can potentially ingress foreign material. Finally, there is no RGB LED lighting. I think all of these tradeoffs are a reasonable compromise to pursue a low mass. Aside from hardware, the Swarm II software is a pleasure to use. It is clear and responsive, providing full button mapping customization, and even a second layer of functions with an Easy Shift button. With an MSRP of $100 USD, it is priced directly against other ultra-lightweight mice from other brands, but it undercuts them by being the lightest mouse in its segment while offering all these features. All in all, the Turtle Beach Burst II Air is a top-tier, ultra-lightweight mouse that can perform superbly in both productivity and gaming tasks.
