Turtle Beach Stealth Pro Review (Page 4 of 4)

Page 4 - Conclusion

While the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro comes out swinging as the manufacturer's flagship headset, I have to admit my final impressions are a bit mixed. To clarify, I think Turtle Beach has approached this idea and delivered on several areas. For one, its physical build provides a solid construction. Its ear cups and headband are thick and plushy, which do a decent job in distributing the hefty weight of the Stealth Pro. Secondly, we have many inputs and controls available. The microphones are integrated well into the Stealth Pro, and I am glad they were able to implement swing-to-mute on the detachable unidirectional boom arm. In terms of its battery life, we also have decent longevity with two batteries, so you can keep gaming for longer. Wireless range is acceptable with coverage within the house. The Turtle Beach Audio Hub V2 also offers a lot of customization in the software settings. When we come to the audio performance, the result is a bit more mixed. On one hand, it performed decently in the frequency ranges for gaming with only some areas to nitpick for more critical listening. Its sound signature was pretty typical for a gaming headset. Soundstaging was generally acceptable for its use and its active noise cancellation was fine for a home environment. On the other hand, it suffered in handling layers and often felt overwhelmed in maintaining clear details with many voices. Finally, the aforementioned software utility should use larger font in the menus for clarity. All in all, the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro brings a lot to the table in its features and capabilities, but there are also multiple areas that can be refined on. At launch, the Stealth Pro is available for $330, which is expected for a top-of-the-line wireless gaming headset. However, I think Turtle Beach should tweak its audio performance and the overall user experience for the next iteration of the Stealth Pro.
