Motorola Introduces $179 Moto G; Cuts Moto X Price from $200 to $100

From DailyTech: Motorola is announcing a new low-cost phone as its high-end Moto X failed to stir up blockbuster sales numbers.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Motorola officially unveiled the new "Moto G" today at an event in Brazil. However, the new device leaked over the weekend when Amazon's UK website featured the Moto G for £160 ($255 USD) without a contract.

The Moto G has a cheaper price tag in the U.S., though. You'll be able to pick one up the 8GB model for $179 or pay $199 for 16GB of storage (no contract necessary).

The Moto G will be available in Brazil and parts of Europe (including the UK) starting today, and will hit the U.S. in January.

Moto G specs include a 720p 4.5-inch display; 8GB/16GB storage options; Android 4.3 Jelly Bean (the Android 4.4 KitKat update will come in January); 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor; 2,070mAh battery; a 5MP rear camera and a 1.3MP front-facing camera.

The Moto G is also customizable with a variety of colors from traditional black and white to turquoise and purple.
