Razer and Koeningsegg Team Up for Notebooks, Other Products

From X-bit Labs: Razer, a leading maker of high-end PC peripherals aimed at gamers, has announced a partnership with Swedish supercar manufacturer Koenigsegg to produce a series of not-for-sale Koenigsegg limited edition Razer Blade laptops. The alliance is emblematic of the two brands’ common preoccupation with engineering perfection and may include other products in the future.

The partners plan to inaugurate the Razer-Koenigsegg relationship with a limited edition of custom not-for-sale Blade laptops, which a select few Koenigsegg owners and Razer fans will get to use. The gaming system will boast power that belies its ultra-thin chassis, which will be CNC machined and appointed with unmistakable Koenigsegg cachet.

Razer Blade laptop is based on fourth-generation Intel Core i “Haswell” microprocessors and Nvidia GeForce GTX 765M (768 stream processors, 850MHz clock-speed, 128-bit GDDR5 memory controller). The system features 8GB of 1600MHz DDR3L memory and comes standard with 128GB of total solid-state storage with options for a 256GB or 512GB mSATA SSD. The Razer Blade comes with 14” display with 1600*900 resolution, Dolby Home Theatre v4 audio, Qualcomm Killer Wireless-N high-performance wireless networking adapter, 1.3MP webcam and so on. The Koeningsegg Blade will feature a custom configuration.

While the Razer Blade is very powerful, it is clearly not another performance-packed system that sacrifices aesthetics, battery life, weight and many other aspects for raw performance. Designed entirely in-house by the renowned Razer design team, Blade has a rigid all-aluminum chassis and features custom-made gaming grade trackpad that offers multi-touch gesture support.

The Koenigsegg Razer Blade will be unveiled at the Geneva International Motor Show in March 2014, where it will show off its performance, letting a lucky few drive virtual Agera R´s in the best possible setting. Both Razer and Koenigsegg see this collaboration as a first step in a long relationship from which more exciting products can be born and brought to market through the collaboration.

The relationship is tethered between Koenigsegg’s headquarters in Ängelholm, Sweden and Razer’s San Francisco design offices, through which Razer’s roster of in-house scientists and engineers are focused on developing cutting-edge technology.

To celebrate the inauguration of the Koenigsegg-Razer relationship, Razer will be giving-away two Koenigsegg-branded Razer Blades to its fans in Facebook and Twitter.
