Sony Increases PlayStation 4 Price in Canada by $50

From DailyTech: Gamers in Canada that haven't purchased a PS4 console yet may be kicking themselves when they see what Sony now has in store for them. Sony Entertainment Canada has confirmed that the game console will see its price increased by $50 in Canada.

That means that the purchase price is going from $399.99 to $449.99 for Canadian PS4 fans. Sony is also increasing the price of the DualShock 4 controller and the PlayStation camera as well. Both of those items will see their Canadian prices rise by $5.

As for the reason that Sony is increasing prices, a statement from the company said that the price increase was enacted "to respond to changes in the market environment." -

Even with the price increase in Canada, the PS4 is still cheaper than the Xbox One.

The PS4 continues to outsell the Xbox One in the U.S., and the console is also said to be more difficult to find while stocks of the Xbox One are easy to come by in most locations.

The PS4 price hike isn't the first time in recent months that Canadian gamers have seen their costs increase. Video games have also gone up in Canada with most new games on the PS4 and Xbox One increasing from $59.99 to $64.99.

A Microsoft spokesperson has said that it has no plans for increasing prices in Canada.
