Nokia's $55 MD-12 Wireless Speaker Uses Hard Surfaces to Boost Bass

From DailyTech: In addition to a few new Windows Phone 8.1 smartphones, Nokia has unveiled a new portable speaker called the MD-12 that's small, yet promises big sound. Nokia says that the speaker is about the size of an apple and has a built-in vibrating actuator that can produce bass when placed onto a hard surface. Nokia says the tech lets the speaker create levels of bass that aren't expected from such a small device.

Power for the speaker comes from an internal rechargeable battery good for up to 15 hours of playback per charge. It also has speakerphone functionality so you can use it to make phone calls on the go. The MD-12 is NFC enabled making it easy to pair with NFC-equipped smartphones.

Smartphone users can control the speaker via the Nokia Device Hub app (the app will also help you find your MD-15 if you misplace it). A 3.5mm input allows the MD-12 to be used with devices that don’t have Bluetooth built in.

Pricing on the Nokia MD-12 is $55 and it comes in yellow, green, orange, and white colors to match Nokia's smartphone color range.
