QNAP Announces QGenie 7-in-1 NAS for Mobile Users

From DailyTech: QNAP is extended its Network Attached Storage (NAS) prowess to a portable “mobile” form-factor with its new QGenie, which it calls a 7-in-1 mobile device.

Similar in concept to products from companies like Patriot and Kingston, the QGenie not only allows users to share documents and media files wirelessly, but it also can serve as a wireless access point, provide juice for your mobile device on -the-go thanks to its built-in 3000 mAh battery, and act as an external 32GB SSD when plugged into your computer’s USB 3.0 port. While operating as an external drive, the QGenie offers read speeds of 120MB/s and write speeds of 40MB/s.

Other features include a built-in LAN port, SD card slot, and an OLED that displays battery status, wireless activity, and current storage capacity. The QGenie also supports Qsyc, the Qfile mobile app, and QNAP’s myQNAPcloud service.

The QGenie supports Windows and Mac computers, and has mobile apps available for both iOS and Android. Users of the Windows Phone or BlackBerry 10 operating systems are unfortunately left out of the loop.
