Microsoft Introduces Mid-range Lumia 830, Rolls Out Denim Update for Nokia Devices

From DailyTech: Currently sitting in the doldrums with 2.5 percent of the global smartphone market, Microsoft is looking to revamp its Lumia family from top-to-bottom in an effort to carve out a bigger piece of the pie for itself. Earlier this summer we saw the introduction of the Lumia 530 — the follow-up to the incredibly popular Lumia 520.

Today, we’re seeing the introduction of the mid-range Lumia 730/735 and Lumia 830. Microsoft calls the Lumia 830 its “affordable flagship” and as a result, the device looks much like the Lumia 930. It even includes an aluminum frame and a polycarbonate backplate while managing to be both thinner and lighter than Lumia 930.

Specs wise, the Lumia 830 comes with a 5” 720p display and a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor with 1GB of RAM (solidifying its position in the lineup). Other features include 16GB of internal storage, a microSD slot for expansion, NFC support, Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11n Wi-Fi, 2200 mAh battery, and built-in Qi wireless charging.

And whereas the Lumia 930 packs in a 20MP PureView camera, the Lumia 830 makes do with a 10MP PureView camera unit on the rear of the device. A 0.9MP wide-angle camera handles front-facing duties.
