Motorola Set to Release Unlocked, Pure Edition of Second Gen Moto X

From DailyTech: Motorola isn’t known for loading up its smartphones too heavily with bloatware, but that isn’t stopping the company from bringing a “bloat free” version of the second generation Moto X to the market. According to The Verge, Motorola plans to a make a “Pure Edition” of the Motorola X that will be completely stripped of any bloatware.

In addition to shedding Motorola tweaks and carrier bloatware, the Moto X Pure Edition will also come unlocked and will not feature any carrier branding whatsoever.

The second generation Moto X was announced earlier this month and rights many of the wrongs of the first generation model. The device now packs a 5.2” 1080p display (up from 720p) and a Snapdragon 801 processor with 2GB of RAM. Motorola also ditched the all-plastic body construction and added in some aluminum to spice things up.

The Moto X is currently priced at $499 off-contract (16GB version), and it is unknown how much the unlocked Moto X Pure Edition will cost or when it will launch.
