HP Launches $279, 10 Plus Tablet Running Android 4.4.2

From DailyTech: Hewlett-Packard announced earlier this morning that it is splitting into two companies: HP Inc. and Hewlett-Packard Enterprise. The company also has a quieter announcement on tap for today — a new tablet.

With the crazy amount of tablets that get released on a yearly basis, HP’s latest effort is meager at best. The HP 10 Plus features a 10.1” 1920x1200 display and that may be its most impressive stat; everything else is decidedly ho-hum. It also features a 1.3GHz Allwinner A31 quad-core processor (Cortex A7) that packs in 2GB of RAM.

Other features include 16GB of internal storage, a microSD slot (which only allows for an additional 32GB), 5MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, 802.11n Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.0. Perhaps the most disappointing spec though is with regards to battery life; HP says that the 7700 mAh battery is only good for 6 hours of runtime.

The tablet is currently shipping from Amazon or HP Shopping for $279.99.

HP claims that spitting its PC and printer business into its own separate unit will allow the company to “empower people to create, interact, and inspire like never before.” The 10 Plus definitely isn’t a product of that philosophy, but we have high hopes for the future.
