From DailyTech: If you’ve having a hard time keeping up with Samsung’s long list of Galaxy smartphones, get in line. That list is about to grow even longer thanks to a revised version of the Galaxy S5 that was introduced earlier this year; the new model is called the Galaxy S5 Plus (G901F).
What leaves us scratching our heads is that the only things that the Galaxy S5 Plus bring to the table are a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor (Krait 450/Adreno 420) — one that is clocked at “only” 2.5GHz versus the standard speed of 2.7GHz (as seen in the flagship Galaxy Note 4) — and LTE Advanced (Cat. 6) connectivity. Besides that, all other features remain the same including 2GB of RAM, a 16MP rear shooter, IP67 rating, 16GB of internal storage, and a 2,800 mAh battery.
Samsung didn’t even bother to upgrade the display to put it on par with the South Korean market Galaxy S5 LTE-A, which includes a QHD display and 3GB of RAM. Instead the Galaxy S5 Plus continues on with a 5.1” 1080p display, not that there’s anything wrong with that.
The Galaxy S5 Plus appears to be first launching in the Netherlands and there’s no word yet on if it will come to the U.S. as either a new model or a replacement for the existing Galaxy S5 — that is until the inevitable Galaxy S6 makes an appearance.
