T-Mobile will let you upgrade your smartphone anytime you want

From CNET: T-Mobile is going old school with the latest in its "Uncarrier" campaign.

The upstart wireless carrier on Thursday said it was adding a new component to its Jump smartphone upgrade plan, giving you the option of removing the $10 monthly fee and allowing customers to upgrade whenever they want. The company calls it Jump! On Demand. The new program also eliminates the insurance component of Jump, but customers can add it back on with an additional $8 a month. It kicks off on June 28.

It's the latest promotion from a carrier known for making a flurry of moves as a part of its Uncarrier drive to attract customers from rivals. So far, it's proven effective, with the growth in customers who pay at the end of each month -- a lucrative demographic known as post-paid subscribers -- outstripping the rest of the national players.

The nation's fourth-largest wireless carrier teased that there would be more promotions to come this summer. Jump! On Demand represents the first in a series of promotions under its new "Uncarrier Amped" campaign.
