Apple sets iPad Pro launch for November 11

From CNET: Apple's new iPad Pro finally has an official launch date.

The new big-screened tablet will hit the market this week, Apple announced on Monday. The iPad Pro will be available for sale online starting Wednesday, November 11, at Apple's website and then hit the shelves at Apple stores, authorized retailers and select wireless carrers later in the week in more than 40 countries.

Unveiled by Apple at its iPhone launch event on September 9, the iPad Pro sports a 12.9-inch screen and a powerful A9X 64-bit processor. The tablet supports both a stylus and a smart keyboard accessory.

Tablet sales have been in the doldrums for months as consumers have turned their attention and their dollars toward big-screened smartphones. Apple's share of the tablet market, meanwhile, has been dwindling, and the company is aiming the iPad Pro at both consumers and business users who may see it as a high-powered alternative to a laptop. Apple has already been touting the ability of the tablet to work with Adobe's software lineup and other products for artists and creative professionals.

The iPad Pro is available in three variations. The 32-gigabyte Wi-Fi-only model sells for $799, while the 128GB Wi-Fi-only version sells for $949. The 128GB Wi-Fi + cellular model goes for $1,079. The keyboard will cost $169 and the stylus will cost $99.
