Say goodbye to Sony's PlayStation TV microconsole

From CNET: Bid your final farewell to the Sony PlayStation TV. After two short years on store shelves, Sony has confirmed to CNET that it will no longer be shipping the microconsole to the United States and Europe.

"PS TV shipments were terminated at the end of 2015 in SCEA [Sony Computer Entertainment America] and SCEE [Sony Computer Entertainment Europe]," a spokesperson for Sony told us. "Shipment is still continuing in SCEAsia (as of the end of February, 2016), and we have nothing to announce regarding the timing of termination."

When the PlayStation TV emerged in the states two years ago, it was clear that Sony was hoping the entertainment box would tie together all the rooms in your house with its ability to play games and stream your PS4 to any other TV using your home network.

Unfortunately its laggy Wi-Fi connection and a thin offering of HD content left us crossing our fingers extra hard for a better gaming ecosystem on competing "microconsoles." Since then, players like Apple (the new Apple TV), Amazon (the updated Fire TV) and Nvidia (the Shield console) have all delivered better products, albeit ones that are more arguably focused on video streaming more than gaming.
