Lenovo unveils three new Android tablets 5, 7, and 10 inchers

From CNET News.com: Lenovo is shaking up the tablet market with three new devices scheduled to hit its home base of China next month.

Ranging in size from five to seven to ten inches, the new tablets will be branded under Lenovo's LePad name in China but will be known as the IdeaPad in other countries as follow-ups to the current IdeaPad K1.

At a mere five inches, the LePad S2005 is somewhat of a cross between a phone and a tablet in size, prompting Engadget to dub the device a tabletphone. Courtesy of its Chinese site (English translation), Engadget spilled some of the specs on the S2005.

Outfitted with Android 2.3.5, the S2005 is powered by a a Qualcomm dual-core 1.2 gigahertz chip and comes with 1 gigabyte of RAM. The screen offers an 800 x 480 pixel LTPS display with a 178-degree viewing angle. A 1.3-megapixel camera graces the front, while a 5-MP 1080p camera can be found in back. The S2005 also includes a micro-USB port, a micro-HDMI port, and HSPA+ cellular connectivity.

And though Engadget christened the S2005 a tabletphone, the device functions strictly as a tablet, similar to Dell's discontinued Streak 5. So users would still need a third-party VoIP service like Skype to make phone calls. And Lenovo is marketing it as a tablet.

No price has been unveiled, but Engadget says that the device will reach Chinese consumers in just a couple of days, so all will be revealed then. The site received a tipoff about the S2005 last week from a source who reported that Lenovo was working on such a gadget.
